A little something about the artist, click here to see more!

He has an unmistakable pictorial idiom, based on his humour, his playfulness and a practically unlimited power of the imagination. Murat’s pictorial composition nonetheless remains simple and clear. The multiple levels of interpretation in Suyur’s work points to surrealist art as the creative source of his inspiration

Why isn’t human skin covered with patterns?

K. Nakama

by

KOUHEI NAKAMA

I didn’t use any photographs or any hand-drawn illustration in the video at all on purpose. Patterns and the skin texture were generated by programming and the human model was made not by using 3D human body scanning but by completely using a computer. I demonstrated the theme “to artificially modify the human bodies” by following the rules. In the video, you’ll see human beings having DNA transferred from other natural organisms such as luminescent coral and a shell absorbing metal into its body. In the end, I explored the possibility further and humans formed a colony of individuals, which represents the end of individuals. To what extent will we transform ourselves? Then what will be the definition of human beings?

…in worlds where snails are the actors

SNails By Aleia Murawski & Sam Copelad

The duo’s work is playful; we are thrown into a world that combines fantasy with reality. However, there is a strangeness to the scenes. At times it feels as if we are peering into a dystopian world, where humans have left, and only their objects and molluscs remain.

World of Eugenia Loli part 1

So…. who is Eugenia Loli?

“Her collages, with the help of the title, often include a teasing, visual narrative, as if they’re a still frame of a surreal movie. The viewers are invited to make up the movie’s plot in their mind”

she is;
Amongst a lot, …a filmmaker, illustrator, and a modern vintage collage artist.

Titel of image: Cosmic Float

Titel of image: Pleiadian Surfer

“It’s important for me to “say” something with my artwork, so for the vast majority of my work there’s a meaning behind them. I usually do this via presenting a “narrative” scene in my collages, like there’s something bigger going on than what’s merely depicted. Sometimes the scene is witty or sarcastic, some times it’s horrific with a sense of danger or urgency, some times it’s chill. I leave it to the viewer’s imagination to fill-in the blanks of the story plot”.

Question: What are your influences?

“I got into collage because I loved Julien Pacaud’s illustrations, but it was Kieron “Cur3es” Cropper who became my main influence. The guy’s a genius. Bryan “Glass Planet” Olson and David Delruelle are also influences of mine. From the older artists, I’d have to say, Magritte. However, I collage on many different styles: from “pop” to dada, and from modern illustrations to traditional surrealism. I don’t believe that artists should “find their style”. That’s artistic death. If I have a style, it’s probably some “meta” aspect of it (e.g. the sarcasm that I usually employ in my collages), rather than something visual”.
